Cyst Removal
Cyst removal surgery is a procedure to remove cysts from the body. A cyst is a small sac of tissue somewhere on the body that may be filled with air, fluid or other waste material. This can build up over time and cause blockages, or bulges on the body. Most cysts are benign and won’t cause any medical issues. However they can appear unsightly or cause anxiety or self confidence issues. As they can be removed patients sometimes opt to have them removed privately. This is due to the cyst removal NHS guidelines stating that they will only remove cysts that could be cancerous or cause health complications.

Cyst Removal Surgery Explained
- The surgeon will assess the cyst and decide the best course of action for removal.
- An incision will be made to open the cyst.
- Pressure will be released if the cyst was filled with air. If it had fluid or waste material in then that will be removed.
- Once the cyst is cleaned out any excess skin can be removed or it will be closed up.
- The incision will be sealed or dressed and left to heal naturally.
- Post procedure you’ll be advised how to care for the wound and keep it free from infection.
Cyst Removal Before and After
Before the procedure patients usually have a large cyst, which is like an infection thats built up under their skin. There are many types of cysts as explained above. Each of which require different methods to removing them. Once they are removed there should be no sign of the cyst remaining and the skin should heal well, sometimes leaving a tiny scar. This is all dependant on how big the cyst was. Patients normally report a great improvement in self confidence as the lump is removed and they feel free of the problem they were carrying.
